Notepad vs Wordpad

I had no idea Notepad did it too. Most other text entry fields in Windows 7 do not exhibit this behavior. Wordpad works as one would expect.

Notepad and Wordpad are both written by Microsoft; both are essentially parts of Windows; and both have been around for decades. It is difficult to imagine that inconsistency in such a basic UI behavior as text selection could persist for so long. Yikes.

I doubt that Notes use the built-in Windows toolkit for its rich text editing fields. As regards text selection, Notes certainly does not behave like any other app. Moreover, the behavior of Notepad.exe certainly does not explain the existence of this bug on Mac OS X.
